BIRTH

The Most Rev’d Dr. Blessing Chinyere Enyindah was born on November 16, 1962, in Omerelu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State to the family of Mr. James Enyindah Chukwu and Abigail Orlu Enyindah Chukwu—a sole survivor of a premature triplet birth.

EDUCATION

He studied at State School 1, Omerelu for FSLC (1970 -1975), St. Aquinas Secondary School, Elele for WASC, O/L (1975 -1980), Rivers State School of Basic Studies for GCE, A/L and IJMB (198- 1982), Darlington College of Technology, Durham, England for International Higher Diploma in Journalism (1983 – 1986), Diploma in Public Relations from the British Business Management Association (1996). He did his National Youths Service at Imo Broadcasting Corporation, IBC Radio, Owerri (1986/1987).

 He did postgraduate studies with Seattle Pacific University, Washington, USA for his Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Journalism and Media Management (1993 – 1998). He holds a Diploma in Basic Security and Intelligence from Rivers State University (2021), He has attended numerous Courses and Conferences in Nigeria and Overseas. Archbishop Blessing Enyindah is an experienced journalist, who had worked in various Media Houses and Broadcasting corporations. 

CALLING & PRIESHOOD

He got born again as a student in Secondary School in 1979 through the Scripture Union. He started ministry in the Scripture Union Nigeria as Travelling Secretary and rose up to Regional Coordinator in 1997. He is the current National Grand Patron of the Scripture Union (Nigeria).

He had his Theological training at Trinity Theological College, Umuahia, 2000 – 2002 (Dip.Th.).   He was ordained Deacon in 1996 and priested in 1997 by the late Rt. Rev. Samuel Elenwo in the Diocese of Niger Delta North.  In 2002, he was preferred Canon of St. Paul’s Cathedral, Diobu, and collated Archdeacon the same year.  Archbishop Blessing Enyindah was elected and enthroned, as Bishop of the Diocese of Ikwerre in 2007 and has successfully led his Diocese from 34 Churches in 3 Archdeaconries to 88 Churches and still counting in 13 Archdeaconries and the Cathedral. 

He was elected Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Niger Delta on Friday, 23rd April 2021 at the Episcopal Synod in Lagos. He was presented to the Church as Archbishop on Sunday 11th July 2021 at Cathedral Church of St. Peters, Asaba. He is a gifted and seasoned preacher, teacher and Expositor of the Word of God, and administrator. He is a writer and author with many books and other publications to his credit.

Archbishop Blessing Enyindah has served the Church of Nigeria (Anglican) Communion in various capacities. Apart from his Episcopal and Arch-episcopal functions, he is serving the Church as, Vice Chairman, Board of Management, Advent Cable Network Nigeria (a CoN television outfit), Chairman, Senior Clergy management Course and Director of Training, Chairman, All Anglican Clergy Conference, Facilitator, communique/pastoral letter committee in Church of Nigeria meetings (2016 till date), Member, Church of Nigeria, Ph.D Scholarship Board, Member Board of Governors, Paul University, Awka and Former member, Board of Governors, Ajayi Crowther Graduate School, Abeokuta. Chairman, collation team of Church of Nigeria Standing committee  meetings and General Synod reports from 2020 to 2023, Chairman Bishops training manual review team (2023), Supervising Bishop, Diocese of Okrika (August 18 to September 28, 2020), Supervisory Bishop of Diocese of Niger Delta West (July 31st, 2021 to 18th December 2022), Supervisory bishop of Diocese of Ogbia, March 3rd, 2023 till date), Chaplain, Joint Council of the East Anglican Churches, Council of Knights (February 2023 – date). He has served in some other committees and panels of the Church of Nigeria.

OTHER WORK

He has served Rivers State government as chairman of Ibaa Town, Emehoa LGA Peace and Reconciliation Committee (2014), Religious Adviser to Chairman Ikwerre LGA (2008 -20010, Member, Ikwerre LGA Security Committee (2004 -2007).

He was a part-time lecturer, at the Advertising Practitioners Council, Examination Centre, Rivers State University of Science and Technology (1997 -2000).

He is a member of several Religious, Professional, and Voluntary organizations in Nigeria and overseas. He has received so many awards from different organizations, groups, and Rivers State, including the Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State, DSSRS, Rivers State Justice of the Peace, JP, United Nations Ambassador of Peace, AP, and Jerusalem Pilgrim, JP. He is the Grand Chaplain of Ikwerre/Emohua Battalion Council of the Boys Brigade Nigeria (2021 till date).

Archbishop Blessing Enyindah has traveled to 57 countries in Africa, America, Asia, and Europe.

PERSONALITY

He is a detribalized Nigerian and has traveled to all the states of Nigeria and speaks his Ikwerre and Igbo fluently and attempts to speak Efik, Hausa, and Yoruba because he loves languages.

He is a man with a free spirit and a clear mind and relates with people easily. He is committed and offers excellent delivery of any assignment given to him.

FAMILY

He is married to his precious wife, Mrs. Precious Nwanyiwuaku Enyindah and they are blessed with 5 children who are adults and grandchildren.

HOBBIES

He likes writing, reading, watching television (for News), traveling, and fitness exercise.

His guiding Scripture is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)
