Speaking on the theme of the day, the bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, Anglican Communion, the Right Reverend Dr. James Olusola Odedeji noted that no man has an encounter with God and remains the same. Citing some examples in the bible, the bishop said Apostle Paul, Zacchaeus, and Mary Magdalene had an encounter with God, and their lives were regenerated. He admonished the ascensionists and everyone present surrender their lives totally to the dictate of the holy spirit so as to enjoy the full blessings of God.

Earlier, the chairman of the Anniversary, Mr. Ayo Lawson had described the existence of the Anglican Church of the Ascension for 40 years, 1983 – 2023, as a journey of love, and growth in all ramifications, and of course, we found Jesus and home here! According to him, looking through our testimonies and miracles we are reminded again to turn to God in worship, connect with our ‘ABBA FATHER’, and be empowered, saying that this does not have to be just another Sunday, it can be a life-changing one. The colorful ceremony had in attendance former vicars, priests, well-wishers, and members of the diaspora, the Chief host, Bishop James Odedeji as well as the new Vicar and his Assistants, Venerable Gabriel Fawole.
