Bishops have been reminded that the office they are occupying is a battle ground hence they must guard it jealously. The Rt Rev Augustine Chijioke Aneke Bishop Diocese of Udi, province of Enugu gave this reminder in his message at day 5 devotion of the Bishop’s Retreat held at St Peters Chapel IBRU International Ecumenical Centre Agbahar-Otor in Delta State.

He remarked that when Bishops are consecrated and enthroned they come across the enormity of Power and control adding that they should not be carried away by the posh and largesse of office.

The cleric who quoted profusely from the scriptures touched so many areas where the Bishops could maintain the qualifications that brought them to power and elevation. He said they are not millionaires, not politicians or power brokers but their main duty is to take care of the people of God in everything and not be greedy for money

The Bishop of UDI Diocese made it explicitly clear that no man is infallible therefore bishops in position of authority needs criticisms for checks and balances. According to him, a leader must not walk alone, but must have people following him with prayers so that Satan would not demolish what had been built.

He said as the true servants of God, Bishops must be solid example, sober, watchful, diligent, reliable and dependable. Not only this, he said they must have approachable disposition that will lead them in managing their family well as a good example for the larger congregation to follow.
