(BY REV. C. ACHIME)

It was another time of spiritual refreshing and deliberation as his Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Christian Esezi Ide, Bishop of Warri Anglican Diocese gathered with delegates drawn from different Churches in the Diocese to observe their First Session of the Twelfth Synod. This epoch making event, which had the theme, “The Peace of God which Transcends all Understanding,” was held at St. James Anglican Church, Warri in Delta State.

Expounding on the theme, the Diocesan described peace as the well-being, health and prosperity of an individual or people. According to him, peace is not just the absence of conflict as defined by a lot of people.

He emphasized that true peace is a gift from God that is given to people who have turned away from evil. Bishop Ide said that the peace of God which transcends all understanding is not like the peace of this world that is fragile, full of deceit and most unreliable, but one that Christians need to cope with the numerous external conflicts around them – like diseases, natural disasters, accidents and so on.

The Cleric beckoned on political leaders, both at the state and federal levels to shun corruption, deal with insurgencies and fulfil their campaign promises to the masses, as this will further engender peace in the Nigerian nation.

In his concluding message, Bishop Ide enjoined all to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour because He is the only channel through which God can give them peace.
