“The power in the name of Jesus Christ is the bunker, the bullet proof that God has built for the Church, as the mighty fortress, place of refuge, a place to hide in times of crisis, distress and calamity where people can run to and be saved.”

This was the submission of the Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo Asaju, the Vice Chancellor Ajayi Crowther University at the monthly power night vigil of the Diocese of Abuja Anglican Communion. He said many people are dying in different parts of the country, their faith have been vigorously attacked, things are getting tougher for the Church, but the gate of hell shall not prevail because God has not lost a single battle.

Preaching on the theme of the power night, “God our Refuge and Strength,” the erudite scholar said strength can be spiritual, political, physical, but it is the spiritual power that overcomes them, even the physical; hence anyone coming against children of God is a fool because there is a superior power in the blood of Jesus Christ and no enchantment, witchcraft, divination will work against special covenant children of God, citizens of heaven.

He described the Anglican Church as a place of refuge built under the authority of the scripture, adding that it is calamitous to leave it, a scripture Bible based Church that brought education and health for another Church because staying in the Anglican Church is to enjoy the best of spiritual grace.

Professor Asaju admonished parents to teach their children the ways of the Lord so that they will not depart or stray from prayerful, disciplined Christian homes and become unrepentant children that will destroy the good heritage of a strong Church, strong family; adding that whoever is dinning with the devil for protection is preparing himself for the slaughter and disaster.

The Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo recalled as he went down memory lane copiously reeling out the miraculous works of Jesus Christ and submitted that believers in Christ can be places of refuge like Christ, performing miracles like Him and overcoming the powers of the devil, never compromising.
He prayed that God will raise leaders of refuge in Nigeria because according to him, only righteous ruling can make the difference in sacrificial leadership like Augustine, Constantine, Martin Luther, William Wilberforce, Ajayi Crowther, who stood their ground even in the face of persecution.

He said hell is real and heaven is real urging Christians to work for their salvation using the Pentecostal powers of the Church and serve the Lord their God, not allowing fear and discouragement, praying in season and out of season; adding that a praying Church is a victorious Church.

He asked for serious prayers for Nigeria because according to him, the leaders are confused and to avoid shipwreck, Christians should pray for this generation, the next, and the coming generations.

Never a dull moment, thousands of worshippers who thronged out for the monthly power night vigil of the Anglican diocese of Abuja at All Saints’ Church, Wuse Abuja were on their toes with the Holy Spirit dictating the pace, no sleeping no slumbering. The joy of the Lord is our Strength!
