The Primate of all Nigeria, Anglican Communion; the Most Rev’d Nicholas D. Okoh has re-iterated that the Anglican Church places much premium on dedication of the Church, both facilities and human beings.

He stated this at the formal dedication of the Church of the Ascension and the Diocesan secretariat building of the Kwara diocese all located at the Diocesan bishop’s court in Ilorin Kwara state.

The Primate went down memory lane of how a priest of the Lord is made, dedicated and ordained, thereby dedicating him to be a living sacrifice to God. He said the items or buildings are dedicated to God through prayer, worship and service of God, citing King Solomon’s dedication of the Temple as an example.

Primate Okoh placed a great emphasis on the church as a place of refuge where people who are at crossroads in decision making, choice of marriage partners, business, and politics or when persecuted run to; adding that church is a sure place to be because Angels and Saints are present to bear witness.

According to Archbishop Okoh, contributions made by people to the building and development of the church does not give them license to mortgage the church, boasting and arrogating ownership to themselves.

He admonished Priests to always wait on the Lord, be faithful, honest and diligent at their duties without conniving with the Laity but rebuking not minding whose ox is gored.

Highlights of the dedication service include special rendition by the Diocesan Mass Choir, Brigade, Girls Guild performance, dedication of the entire church and the Diocesan Secretariat building, all built less than one year.
