“You cannot overcome the challenges of life, including sin, without the application of the blood of Jesus.”

This was the submission of the Rt. Rev’d Humphrey B. Olumakaiye, Bishop of Lagos Anglican Diocese on the last day, Day 7 of the Lenten meditation programme of the Diocese of Abuja tagged “The Way of the Cross” held at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja.

Speaking on the topic, “Overcoming by the blood of Jesus”, Bishop Olumakaiye said the blood of Jesus, is an expensive weapon made available to all who are in Christ Jesus. He explained that the blood of Jesus is the believer’s instrument of triumph that answers the challenges of today; adding that one of the greatest weapons that a sincere Christian has is the blood of Jesus.

According to the Bishop of Lagos Diocese, with the blood of Jesus, one becomes unstoppable and one receives abundant life. He stressed that the blood of Jesus guarantees the believer’s freedom in all spheres of life; explaining that Christians reign by the blood of Jesus Christ.

The Bishop described the blood of Jesus as a weapon that is given for the believer’s protection. He said it is inexhaustible and unlimited. He however pointed out that the blood of Jesus can only work for those who have forsaken sin and given their lives to Jesus Christ.

He said, “The blood of Jesus is for everyone; if you can just believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him to save you.”

Bishop Olumakaiye quoted copiously from the Bible, highlighting all that the blood of Jesus does for believers. He said through His blood, Christians are set free, healed, justified, spiritually alive, forgiven and are able to approach the Father. He noted that faith in the blood of Jesus produces great results. Hence, he urged those present to always cover themselves with the blood of Jesus and plead the blood of Jesus when faced with challenges, because it is a weapon the devil cannot defeat.

The Way of the Cross programme for this year had the general theme, “Spiritual Warfare” and it was a 7-day power-packed programme wherein there were counselling sessions, praise sessions, medical check-up, prophetic declarations and prayers.
