THE PROFILE OF MOST REV’D DR. MICHAEL OLUSINA FAPE, ARCHBISHOP, PROVINCE OF LAGOS.

The Most. Rev. Dr. Michael Olusina Fape, an Anglican Bishop received a Diploma in Theology from Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan, a Diploma in Religious Studies, and a B. A. (Hons) from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, where he graduated with Second Class Upper Division in 1987. He won the Bishop Kale Prize for the Best Graduating Student from the Department of Religious Studies. As the Seabury-Walmsley Fellow Scholar (1989/90), he obtained the Master of Sacred Theology (S.T.M) Degree in Counselling and NT Ethics from the Yale University Divinity School, New Haven, CT. U.S.A in 1990; and between 1992 and 1996 was awarded the Langham Trust Scholarship to study for his Ph.D. degree in New Testament Studies at the University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK, graduating in 1996.

Dr. Fape is a dedicated Pastor and Teacher whose pastoral and teaching ministries have brought joy to many lives in various churches in Nigeria, the U.S.A., and the UK. He was formerly a Senior Lecturer at Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan, where he lectured in New Testament Studies, New Testament Greek, Homiletics, and Clinical Theology.

While lecturing at Immanuel College of Theology, he was awarded the Langham Writers’ Fellowship for his Doctoral Studies at Oak Hill Theological College, London (2000/01). His teaching ministry was capped with his appointment as Dean of Archbishop Vining College of Theology, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.

Dr Olusina Fape has over 25 Publications in Books, Monographs, and Articles in National and International Journals to his credit. Among his Book Publications are: Paul’s Concept of Baptism (The Edwin Mellen Press, Lampeter, UK), Where Are the Anglican Youths? You Shall be Witnesses to Me, The Year of Jubilee, and Powers in Encounter with Power (Christian Focus Publications Ltd., UK). He also has an Article on Baptism in The New Dictionary of Biblical Theology, (IVP Press, Leicester, UK).

The Most Rev Dr Michael Olusina Fape, before his election as Bishop, was the Clerical Secretary, of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion. He is the current Bishop of the Diocese of Remo, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Chairman of Church of Nigeria Theological Resource Group (CON TG); Archbishop, Lagos Ecclesiastical Province; and a member of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC). He is happily married to Mrs Oluwatoyin Kehinde Fape, a retired Deputy Director, of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna. They are blessed with three God-fearing children.
