The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, The Most Rev’d Dr. Henry C. Ndukuba has reaffirmed the Church of Nigeria’s stance against the revisionist rejection of the authority of scriptures, homosexuality, and human sexuality.

He made this call at the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Chancellors, Registrars, and Legal Officers Conference (ACRLOC) held in Abuja between Monday 29th July and Thursday 1st of August 2024 at the St. Matthias House, Gudu, Abuja.

The conference theme, ‘To Whom Shall We Go?’ taken from John 6: 68, was the 13th edition and the first to be organized by the new Registrar of the Church of Nigeria, Mrs. Kehinde Ajoni.

Speaking on the theme of the conference, Archbishop Ndukuba noted that the theme challenges everyone to reaffirm their commitment to Jesus Christ as the Only Source of Salvation and Truth. He said, “In a world where pluralism, relativism, manipulations and corruption abound, we are called to boldly proclaim Jesus’ exclusivity in offering eternal life and Genuine way of living in a world and Generation where people fall for cheap way out and that which perish with its usage”.

He added that just as many disciples turned away from Jesus due to the difficulty of His teachings, today’s Church faces challenges that may tempt believers to compromise or abandon foundational truths.

He opined that understanding that Jesus alone offers eternal life should motivate Christians to engage in evangelism with urgency and compassion.

“The theme for this conference taken from John 6:68 underscores Jesus Christ’s centrality and exclusivity in the Christian faith. It challenges us to remain faithful, proclaim the Gospel boldly, and find its ultimate satisfaction and purpose in Christ alone”, he added.

The Dean of the Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Blessing Enyindah, also spoke at the conference, urging participants to remain committed to serving in their roles despite facing challenges. He emphasized the need to connect with God’s Word and remain steadfast in one’s beliefs and responsibilities.

Welcoming the delegates to the conference, the Registrar of the Church of Nigeria, Mrs Kehinde Ajoni thanked God for His infinite mercies upon the Legal officers in the Church and the promotions He has granted some of the members. Notably are Justices elevated to Appeal Court and Supreme Court and the election of the new President of the Nigeria Bar Association who is a member of the Anglican Church and the Registrar of the Diocese of Oru, A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afam Osigwe.

She also emphasized that Peter’s questions and declaration in the text of the theme serves as a guiding principle for Christian’s commitment when faced with oppositions or difficulties.

Mrs Ajoni therefore urged the participants to see this as an example of unwavering adherence to establish principles in the face of challenges charging them to adhere and maintain the Constitution and Cannons of the Church of Nigeria Anglican communion.
