“A child of God who is born again cannot be possessed by demons, but a child of God who is carnally minded can be influenced by demons.”

The Rt. Rev’d Steven Akobe made this known on the day one of the annual Lenten programme of the Diocese of Abuja tagged, “Way of the Cross”, which was held at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja.

Speaking on the topic, “Understanding spiritual warfare”, the guest preacher pointed out that Christians are in warfare, whether they believe it or not. He however noted that Christians are to fight from a standpoint of victory and not as people who are hopeless.

The Bishop highlighted some examples of spiritual battles, stressing that anyone who knows his or her God would not run away from principalities and powers, but confront them in the name of Jesus Christ.

Bishop Akobe explained that satan is not everywhere and he cannot read minds like God. This, according to him, is why the devil needs demons to carry out his assignments.

The cleric listed out several tactics the devil uses to plague Christians and the Church of God, including deception, division, diversion, discouragement and temptations; summarizing that there is power in every Christian to confront the onslaught of the devil, because God is greater and bigger than the enemy.
