Be an Instrument of Intervention and Succor- Gov Sanwo-Olu Urges Church Leaders

The Church has been urged to be an Instrument of Intervention and Succor to the citizens at this time in our Nation.

This call was made by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, when he welcomed the House of Bishops and their wives to the ongoing 2024 Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion Bishops, and Bishop wives retreat held at Faith Plaza, Bariga, Lagos.

The Governor in his speech thanked the Primate and Metropolitan of all Nigeria, Most Rev Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba, and his wife Mrs Angela Ndukuba for choosing Lagos, the Centre of Excellence and Hospitality to host the retreat and strategically in the first week of 2024.

Speaking further, the Governor said that the Church is indeed the first and real Government, he reminded the Bishops that the Church is closer to the people especially now that we are in a difficult period in our country but he expressed confidence that the country will bounce back better, bigger and brighter.

He urged the Bishops to use the Pulpit to admonish, criticize, and encourage the leaders in the country and let them know how people feel.

The Host and the Bishop of Lagos, Rt Rev Ifedola Senasu Okupevi expressed his gratitude to the Governor for coming. They urged him to do more for the benefit of the citizens and assured him of continuous prayer and support.
