Primate of All Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh has charged members of the Boys Brigade and Daughters of Hope to follow the footsteps of Christ in their daily living.

Most Rev Okoh said this in Port Harcourt, on Day One of the General Synod of Church of Nigeria while inspecting a Guard of Honour mounted by the Boys Brigade and Daughters of Hope as part of activities for the Synod holding in Port Harcourt.

Represented by Bishop Tubokosime Abere of Diocese of Okrika, the Primate said that by following the footsteps of Christ, the two faith organizations will be showing example to future generations of young men and women, as well as better the society.

He emphasized the need for the young men and women of the organization to stay close to God in their human endeavour even as he charged them to remain obedient to church and civil authorities.

According to him, the church is committed to raising good young men and women so that they would be future leaders and be instrument for positive change for the nation.

He however, prayed that the good Lord would bless them and make them useful to the society.

The Primate and his entourage were entertained to musical concert by the Boys Brigade, the Daughters of Hope and Clergy Provincial wives.

           Primate Declares Blessing Upon Niger Delta

The Evening Service on Day One of the 12^th General Synod of Church of Nigeria ended yesterday with a declaration by the Primate of All Nigeria, Most Rev’s Dr Nicholas D. Okoh that “God will cause heavy rain of blessing upon the Province of Niger Delta and her people for taking the huge responsibility in hosting this Synod.”

In his opening remark, in course of the evening service, the Primate was optimistic that the Synod, given elaborate arrangement on ground, would end on a happy note and the people will be blessed tremendously.

He thanked the Province for its beautiful warm reception and hospitality and prayed that the Almighty God in His infinite mercy would reward their labour of love and support to the Church of Nigeria.

Most Rev’d Okoh also thanked God for journey mercies for all delegates. He expressed gratitude that there was no evil report and also prayed that there would not be any evil report at the end of the Synod.

While noting that the Rivers State Government had done its best in security of life and property, the Primate however, advised all Synod Delegates to stay and operate within approved limits to avoid having any security challenge.

“You must avoid late outing and stay within approved limits for security reasons,” the Primate told the delegates in clear terms, adding that there is need for all to be conscious of their movements.

Host Archbishop, Most Rev’d Dr Ignatius Kattey, in his own remark, praised God for this day to come in the history of the Province.

On behalf of the Province, Archbishop Kattey formally welcomed the Primate, his wife, Archbishops and their wives as well as other delegates to the Province for the 12^th General Synod of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.

He also wished the delegates for a successful deliberation.

The Chairman of the 12^th General Synod Organising Committee and Bishop, Diocese of Evo, Right Rev’d Innocent Ordu intimated delegates of security arrangement on ground and charged them to reach out to available contacts as given to them.

He advised all delegates to keep strictly on arrangement for the success of the Synod.

The Evening Service began with the opening hymn: “All Hail The Power Of Jesus Name,” and the Psalm selected for the day was taken from Psalm 124. The Bible reading drawn from Acts of the Apostles Chapter 13: 44-52 was read by Ven. Benjamin Enwuchola, Assistant General Secretary of Church of Nigeria.

The Intercessory Prayer was taken by Right Rev’d Dr Stephen Fagbemi, the General Secretary of Church of Nigeria.
