The Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Gbamwuan Nyitsse was born on July 6, 1959, in Mbagen, Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria, to Mr. Nyitsse Ikpa and Mrs. Esther Nyiku Nyitsse, both of blessed memory. His early life was
