The Archbishop Ibadan Province of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the Most Rev (Dr) Segun Okubadejo says many Nigerians are guilty of the sin of stealing.
“Nobody can escape from it. The theme speaks to all. Is either you are stealing from someone or you are stealing from yourself,” Most Rev. Okubadejo said in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt at Day Three of the 12th General Synod of the Anglican Communion, holding at St Paul’s Cathedral, Diobu, Port Harcourt.
He said going by the involvement of all in the act of stealing, Nigerians must support the present administration in their efforts fight against corrupt practices in the country.
According to the Archbishop of Ibadan Province, the theme should remind public officers of the need to stay clear of corrupt practices, and keep their hands clean in any human endeavour.
In another interview, the Bishop of the Diocese on the Lake, The Rt. Rev. Chijioke Oti said that “Thou shall not steal,” brings everyone to the consciousness that taking resources that does not belong to one is sinful in the sight of God.
