PROFILE: Venerable Alkali Titus, Bishop-Elect of Wusasa Diocese

Ven. Alkali Titus hails from Tudun Wada Kaningkon, Jema’a Local Government, Kaduna State. Born to the family of Ssgt Alkali and Martha Kato of blessed memory. He had his early education at Army Children School and Federal Government College, Sokoto between 1981 to 1992. He met with Jesus in 1986 and answered the call to ministry in January, 1995 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Nyanya then Abuja Diocese.

He got admitted into St. Francis of Assisi Theological College Wusasa in 1996 to read Diploma In Theology; During the same period, he got a Diploma in Christian Religious Education (DCRE) with Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU). He finished as overall best student in 1999.

Ven.Alkali studied at the prestigious Theological College of Northern Nigeria Bukuru Jos in Plateau State (University of Jos) where he got a Bachelor’s degree in Divinity. He also holds a Masters in Theology, MTh, (Church History) from Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary Abeokuta and a Masters of Art, MA, (Christian Religious Studies,) from Ajayi Crowther University Oyo.

 On completion of his Theological training in 1999, he was posted to Kebbi Diocese where he was ordained Deacon and Priest in 1999 and 2000 respectively by His Grace, The Most Rev Edmund E. Akanya -Bishop of Kebbi. He was sent to the headquarters of the Children Evangelism Ministry Ilorin for an intensive course in Advanced Children Evangelism (ACEC) in1999. He has organized several workshops and trainings for Churches on child development since then.

 Ven Alkali served as Curate in the Cathedral Church of St. Luke’s Kebbi in1999. He became Vicar of All Saints Anglican Church Jega, Supervisory Priest St. Matthew’s Yauri and Supervisory Priest St. Matthias Church Zuru Between 2000 to 2008. He has also served as Synod Secretary and Children Chaplain for Kebbi Diocese from 2002 to 2008. Though in Zaria presently, he is still passionate for the Children ministry; working closely now with CEM Zaria and ACM in St. Francis Wusasa in ensuring that the Children discover and fulfill their God ordained purpose.

 He was on secondment to St. Francis of Assisi Theological College Wusasa Zaria in 2008 as a Lecturer when the need arose to revamp the College by the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion and for the past 16 years, he has lived in Wusasa and served the College in the capacity of Asst. Director of Studies, College Chaplain for two terms, Sub dean, Deputy Rector and Acting Rector.

 On Church of Nigeria, he was appointed by the Primate in 2021 as Committee/Team member of The Senior Clergy Training Course and also Board member – Church of Nigeria Theological Accreditation and Regulatory Board recently inaugurated by the Primate. Board member St. Francis of Assisi College of Theology and Education. He has also served diligently as CAN Chairman Jega Local Government, Yauri Local Government in Kebbi State. CAN Coordinator Kuregu Zone Zaria LG and CCN block Chairman Wusasa.

Some of the conferences attended for capacity building include; The Theological Education in Africa (TEA) conference; The Theological Educators Conference (TEDCO) with PEACE HOUSE; Managing Teaching Online with TETFUND centre for Excellence and the LOGS, Talhite Phase 1 and Urban Mission,Local Leaders International – Australia.

 Ven. Alkali got married to his lovely wife Helen (Dora) on 2nd of April, 2005 and the marriage is blessed with four kids- Timothy, Tabitha, Treasure and Todah.
