The Rt Rev’d Alkali Titus is a servant of God whose life has been marked by spiritual conviction, theological depth, and a lifelong dedication to the ministry of the Anglican Church in Nigeria. His journey began with his early education at Army Children School and Federal Government College, Sokoto, where he studied between 1981 and 1992. In 1986, he encountered the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and surrendered his life to Christ. By January 1995, he had responded to the call to ministry while worshipping at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Nyanya, then under the Diocese of Abuja.
He was admitted into St. Francis of Assisi Theological College, Wusasa, in 1996 to pursue a Diploma in Theology. During this period, he also enrolled in a Diploma in Christian Religious Education (DCRE) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He successfully completed both programs in 1999, graduating as the overall best student of his class. That same year, he was posted to the Diocese of Kebbi, where he was ordained as a Deacon, and the following year, in 2000, he was ordained as a Priest by His Grace, The Most Reverend Edmund E. Akanya, Bishop of Kebbi.
Also in 1999, he underwent intensive training in Advanced Children Evangelism (ACEC) at the headquarters of the Children Evangelism Ministry (CEM) in Ilorin. This marked the beginning of his long and passionate commitment to children’s ministry. Since then, he has organized numerous workshops and training programs across churches, focusing on child development and spiritual nurturing.
His early clerical appointments included serving as Curate at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke’s, Kebbi, in 1999. Between 2000 and 2008, he served as Vicar of All Saints Anglican Church, Jega, and Supervisory Priest for both St. Matthew’s Church in Yauri and St. Matthias Church in Zuru. During this same period, he also served as Synod Secretary and Children’s Chaplain for the Diocese of Kebbi. While now residing and ministering in Zaria, he remains committed to the children’s ministry, working closely with CEM Zaria and the Anglican Children Ministry (ACM) in St. Francis Wusasa to help children discover and fulfill their God-given purpose.
In his pursuit of academic and theological excellence, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Divinity from the Theological College of Northern Nigeria (TCNN), Bukuru, Jos. He further pursued higher theological studies, obtaining a Master of Theology (MTh) in Church History from Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary in Abeokuta, and a Master of Arts (MA) in Christian Religious Studies from Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.
In 2008, he was seconded to St. Francis of Assisi Theological College, Wusasa, Zaria, to serve as a Lecturer. This appointment came at a time when the Church of Nigeria sought to restructure and strengthen the institution. Over the years, he has served the college in several academic and administrative capacities, including as Assistant Director of Studies, College Chaplain (two terms), Sub-Dean, Deputy Rector, and Acting Rector.
At the national level, his contribution to the Church of Nigeria has been substantial. In 2021, he was appointed by the Primate of the Church of Nigeria as a member of the Senior Clergy Training Course Committee, a member of the Church of Nigeria Theological Accreditation and Regulatory Board, and a member of the Church of Nigeria Marriage Counseling Committee.
On the 18th of September 2024, Alkali Titus was consecrated as the second Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Wusasa during a consecration service held in Nike Diocese. He currently serves as the Bishop of Wusasa Diocese in Zaria, Kaduna State, offering spiritual leadership marked by humility, theological insight, and pastoral passion.
He was joined in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, Mrs. Helen (Dora) Titus, on the 2nd of April 2005. Their union is blessed with four wonderful children: Timothy, Tabitha, Treasure, and Todah. Bishop Alkali Titus remains a dedicated father, teacher, evangelist, and shepherd whose ministry continues to impact lives across generations and regions. His unwavering commitment to the faith and his deep involvement in education and mission have made him a leading voice in the Anglican Communion in Nigeria.
