The Rt. Rev’d Augustine Ehijimetor Ohilebo was born on the 14th of August, 1976, into a devout Christian family. From an early age, he exhibited a clear passion for the things of God, a disciplined lifestyle, and a compelling desire for spiritual growth and leadership. These qualities formed the foundation of a lifelong journey of service in the Lord’s vineyard.
He received his theological and academic formation at the reputable Ezekiel College of Theology, Ujoelen-Ekpoma, where his passion for ministry was further deepened. Over the years, he acquired a Diploma in Religious Studies and a Diploma in Theology, which laid the groundwork for further academic achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Management and Cultural Studies and subsequently obtained a Master of Arts degree in Sociology of Religion. He is presently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the same field, further strengthening his commitment to the intersection of faith and society.
Rt. Rev’d Ohilebo is known within the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) as a devoted teacher of the Word, a bold preacher of the Gospel, and a pastor with a strong evangelistic calling. His ministry has consistently reflected a deep love for the Scriptures, a passion for soul-winning, and a heart for nurturing both clergy and laity toward spiritual maturity.
On the 21st of February 2017, he was elected as the Bishop of the Diocese of Sabongidda-Ora at the Episcopal Synod held at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Ake, in the Diocese of Egba. His consecration as Bishop took place on the 7th of May, 2017, at the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, in the Diocese of Owerri, Imo State. He was formally enthroned as the third Bishop of the Diocese of Sabongidda-Ora on the 5th of August, 2017, at the Cathedral Church of St. John, Sabongidda-Ora.
Since his enthronement, Bishop Ohilebo has led the diocese with vision, humility, and spiritual clarity. Under his leadership, the Diocese of Sabongidda-Ora has continued to experience growth in missions, clergy development, youth engagement, and doctrinal soundness. His episcopacy is marked by a firm commitment to the authority of Scripture, a love for the Anglican heritage, and a pragmatic approach to the challenges of pastoral ministry in a dynamic society.
Bishop Ohilebo is a Justice of the Peace (JP), a designation that reflects his dedication not only to ecclesiastical service but also to social responsibility and community peacebuilding. His deep theological insights, coupled with administrative prudence and moral integrity, have earned him respect both within the Church and in the wider society. He remains an inspiration to young ministers and a shepherd committed to the care of the flock entrusted to him.
He continues to serve faithfully as the Bishop of the Diocese of Sabongidda-Ora, upholding the Gospel of Jesus Christ with courage, wisdom, and unwavering devotion.
