Biography of The Bishop of the Diocese of Ohaji/Egbema – The Rt. Revd. Dr. Chidi Collins Oparaojiaku

The Rt. Revd. Dr. Chidi Collins Oparaojiaku is a seasoned Anglican bishop, scholar, administrator, author, and consultant. He currently serves as the Bishop of Ohaji/Egbema Diocese under the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion. He is widely known as a conference speaker, crusade minister, teacher of the Word, and a strategic leader in both religious and civic circles.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management (Business Strategy and Policy) from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Port Harcourt, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Imo State University. He also trained in Theology at Trinity Theological College, Umuahia. His professional development includes courses in emotional intelligence from the International Centre for Management Research and Training (CIMRAT), an advanced leadership seminar at Haggai Institute, and a 15-day course on Israeli agriculture at Alexander College, Jerusalem. He also participated in church growth conferences in South Korea in 2007 and 2015.

Ordained as a deacon in 1996 and priest shortly after, Bishop Oparaojiaku served at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul’s, Diobu, Port Harcourt. He was later posted as Vicar and Administrator to several parishes and archdeaconries within Rivers State including Port Harcourt Central Archdeaconry, Good Shepherd Anglican Church Rumueme, and Saint Matthew’s Church, Nkpogu. From 2001 to 2007, he was the Administrator, Chaplain, and Resident Minister at the Chapel of Redemption, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt. In 2007, he became the Archdeacon, Rector, and Vicar of Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church, Rumuobiakani. He was elected and consecrated as the Bishop of Ohaji/Egbema Diocese in 2008.

He has been actively involved in national and diocesan leadership. He is the Chairman of the Church of Nigeria Economic and Financial Think Tank, the Chairman of St. Matthias Fund Managers, and the Church of Nigeria’s Business Manager. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (ACNN), and CEO of both Goshen Retreat Support Organization Ltd and Change Narrative Konsult Ltd. He is also the founder and president of Andrew’s Foundation Incorporated and president of Mbieri for Christ.

His contributions extend into youth empowerment, governance, and Christian unity. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES), Chairman of the Superannuation Fund Investment Management Committee, and member of the Board of Trustees for the Evangelism, Leadership and Missions International Institute (ELMI). He has also served as Prayer Secretary and President in various student fellowships including NIFES and the National Christian Corpers’ Fellowship (NCCF).

Bishop Oparaojiaku is a prolific writer and researcher. He has authored over 42 published books, with additional unpublished theses and manuscripts. He consults for more than 25 organizations both within Nigeria and internationally and corresponds for several journals.

He is married to Dr. (Mrs.) Joy O. Oparaojiaku and they are blessed with four children. His hobbies include reading, writing, sporting activities, and watching adventure films.
