The Rt. Rev. Samuel Chukwudi Ezeofor was born on May 8, 1967, into the family of Ichie Noel O. and Mrs. Juliana N. Ezeofor of Ezioko Village, in the present-day Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. His birth was a source of immense joy and thanksgiving, as it came after ten years of childlessness—an answered prayer and testament to God’s faithfulness.
From an early age, Samuel was deeply immersed in the life of the Church, a path nurtured by his devout parents, especially his mother. He actively participated in various church ministries—choir, Boys’ Brigade, APA, and Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF)—all of which shaped his spiritual journey and service orientation.
He received his primary education at Okoko Primary School and Central School, Oko, obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate in 1979. He proceeded to Aguata High School, where he completed his secondary education and obtained the West African School Certificate in 1985. His theological and academic pursuit took him to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; the University of Ibadan; and Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan, where he earned his first degree with First Class Honours, followed by second and third degrees between 1990 and 1994.
In 1994, he was ordained into the sacred ministry by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel B. Gbonigi, then Bishop of Akure Diocese, and was priested in 1995. While serving in the Diocese of Akure, he ministered at the Cathedral Church of St. David and the Chapel of the Restoration, Akure, while also lecturing at Archbishop Vining College of Theology.
In 1998, he transferred to the Diocese of Nnewi under the mentorship of the Rt. Rev. (later Most Rev.) Prof. G.I.N. Okpala, whom he acknowledges as a significant influence in his ministerial journey. He served at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Nnewi, and later at St. Mary’s Church, Isseke, from where he was elevated to Archdeacon in 2000. His leadership continued across the Ihiala and Oraifite Archdeaconries.
In March 2007, Rev. Ezeofor was elected, consecrated, and enthroned as the pioneer Bishop of the Diocese of Ogbaru, where he continues to serve with passion and distinction.
Bishop Ezeofor has held numerous leadership roles in the Church, including National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC), Chairman of EFAC Eastern Bloc, Vice Chairman and National Patron of EFAC Nigeria, National Patron of AYF, and Patron of Scripture Union, Onitsha Area. He also serves as National Chaplain of the Deliverance and Healing Unit of the Church of Nigeria.
His evangelical ministry has taken him across more than 30 countries on five continents, preaching the Gospel and building disciples. His life mission focuses on raising strong disciples of Christ, cultivating godly leadership in the Church and society, and strengthening Christian marriages and homes.
A turning point in his life was his personal conversion experience on December 30, 1983—a spiritual rebirth he regards as the greatest event of his life.
Bishop Ezeofor is also a prolific author. His published works include:
-
Made in Heaven
-

He is married to Mrs. Chinyere Huldah Ezeofor, with whom he has served faithfully in ministry for over three decades. Their union is blessed with five promising children.
