The Rt. Rev. Adegoke Oludare Agara was born on the 8th of August, 1968, into the family of Mr. Joseph Adelana and Mrs. Victoria Agara of Amusigbo Quarters in Idoani, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State. His maternal roots trace back to Ipesi Akoko.
He began his primary education at Aketan Methodist School, Oyo, and completed it at New Ede Primary School, Oremeji, Mokola, Ibadan. His secondary education started in 1980 and concluded in 1985 at Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan.
Following several unsuccessful attempts to gain university admission, he enrolled at the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta in 1989, where he earned a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in 1992. He subsequently worked as a teacher at the institution’s Staff School. During this period, he yielded to God’s call and enrolled in theological training at Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan, from 1994 to 1997.
After his theological education, he was posted to the Diocese of Lagos, where he pursued further academic development. He obtained both his first and second degrees in Education from the University of Lagos in 2002 and 2004, respectively.
Rev. Agara was ordained a Deacon in 1997 and a Priest in 1998, both ordinations taking place at Christ Church Cathedral, Marina. He was installed as a Canon of the Cathedral on the 10th of October, 2010, and was collated as an Archdeacon on the 6th of December, 2013.
Before his first official posting, he spent three formative months—between July and September 1997—under the mentorship of the late Ven. S. Kunuji at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church.
His pastoral ministry has taken him across various parishes within the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, serving in the following capacities:

On the 22nd of July 2020, he was elected Bishop in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) at the Basilica of Grace, Gudu, Abuja. He was consecrated on Monday, the 21st of September, 2020, and enthroned as the Bishop of the Diocese of Idoani on Tuesday, the 29th of September, 2020.
Bishop Adegoke Oludare Agara is married to his friend and confidant, Oluwatoyin Abosede Agara. Their union, solemnized on the 12th of December, 1998, is blessed with a set of twins—AnuOluwa and OreOluwa.
