The Archbishop of Lokoja Province, The Most Rev’d Dr. Daniel Yisa has told Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Most Revd Henry Ndukuba, to see the remaining five years of his primacy coming with tough challenges but with the Grace of God they are surmountable.
Archbishop Yisa gave the admonition in his sermon at the eucharist service marking the Fifth Anniversary of the Presentation and Enthronement of Most Revd Dr Henry Ndukuba as the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of all Nigeria and the Bishop of Abuja Diocese at the Cathedral Church of Advent Life Camp Abuja.on Tuesday 25 March 2025.
Most Revd Yisa who is also Bishop of of Minna Diocese said “ Your Grace, I Pray that God will give you Grace for the next Five years. You may have more challenges to battle with. Why? Because you’re now descending to your retirement. And as you descend, many more aspirations will come up.
” You will start to hear things you have not heard about yourself because you will usher in a new primate. I pray that God will give you the grace to be prepared.”
He reminded him that challenges of the next five years in this leadership position would be more and beyond the past five years, because as you finally winding up many more other interests would come for the position and many more statements and deception about yourself would also come.
Most Revd Yisa Prayed “may God give you the shock absorber to absorb it in Jesus name. Amen. You will not fail God you will not fail His congregation. Paul did not fail the Church of God. May you not fail the church of God.”
Archbishop Yisa who took his text from the book of 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 noted that the Corinthian church lost focus due to its mixed background, multitude, and doctrine and we as a Church could also lose focus in our community as well as the growth of the church.
To be faithful and fruitful in our gospel culture, he said we needed to evaluate ourselves as leaders and church members.
While commending the giant strides of the Primate in the upholding the gospel of Christ with great humility, he noted the importance of humility and approachability in Primate character in the way he had been preaching the gospel to reach the unreached .
Archbishop Yisa said the Church should prioritize the message of salvation in Christ Jesus rather than the messenger.
Former Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Nicholas D. Okoh and his wife Nkasiobi were present at the service.
He encouraged the Primate to rely totally on God and commit to more prayers for the next 5 years of his tenure.
