Nasarawa town was agog on November 15th 2025 when the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev’d Dr. Henry C. Ndukuba, and his wife, Mrs Angela Ndukuba led other Archbishops and Bishops, Legal luminaries and Church of Nigeria officials to St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral Church Nasarawa in Nasarawa State to inaugurate the newly created missionary diocese of Nasarawa which is now the 165th Diocese in the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.
In his sermon, The Archbishop of Enugu Province and Bishop of Enugu-North Diocese, The Most Rev’d Dr. Sosthenes Eze charged the congregation to hold on to God faithfully and work for the growth of the new diocese. While speaking further, he urged the clergy and church officials to remember that everyone of them shall account for what they do and do not do in God’s vineyard, adding that God is not a debtor of any man and will always provide for His people.
While inaugurating the Diocese, the Primate noted that the diocese was created out of the need to expand the gospel of Christ in the areas carved out and this should be the focus of all members in working with the Bishop and his team. He assured them that whatever they need will always be made available by God who called them in this area.
Over 15 bishops were in attendance with other dignitaries, government officials, legal luminaries led by the Church of Nigeria Registrar, Mrs Kehinde Ajoni and other Church officials led by the General Secretary, Ven. Bar. Festus Opara.
Nasarawa Missionary diocese was carved out from Lafia Diocese as part of the newly created 15 dioceses in the Church of Nigeria at its last Standing committee meeting held in Ekiti last September.
The Rt. Rev’d Dr. Luka B. Allu was thereafter enthroned as the pioneer bishop immediately after the inauguration service.
