Delivering the sermon at this historical service from Ephesians 2:20 with the topic “Build to Endure; Standing on the foundation of Jesus Christ”, The Most Rev’d Simeon Borokini, who is the Archbishop of Ondo Province charged the new diocese to ensure that the foundation be well laid on Christ alone who is the cornerstone of the Church.

He noted that God is still building His church and we are all part of the process adding that the creation of this diocese is a call to duty and members must break new fallow grounds, be ready to spend and be spent, win souls and plant more churches for the growth of the gospel of Christ.

He concluded by encouraging the new bishop, The Rt. Rev’d Ebenezer Adewole to work with his members and clergymen for a successful ministry and not be in competition with them or other dioceses around. He added that he must be a bridge builder carrying everyone along in the building of the diocese.

After the message, the representatives of the various archdeaconries being carved out as a diocese namely, Iba, Festac and Amuwo-Odofin, presented their petition to create the diocese before the Primate who accepted the petition and called for the deeds (relinquishment and acceptance) to be read and executed.
