Early Life and Background
The life of the Rt. Rev Jeremiah Ndana Kolo is a testament to the power of perseverance and faith. Born on 12th May, 1967 he has now reached the remarkable milestone of turning 58 years old. The Rt. Rev Jeremiah Ndana Kolo hailed from the historic town of Katamba Bologi in Edati Local Government Area of Niger State, his journey is indeed a source of encouragement that with perseverance, determination, integrity, and dedication, one can achieve a lot in life.
The Rt. Rev Jeremiah Ndana Kolo started from a little background haven came from a family of farmers. He never allowed his background to stop him from becoming who God said he would be. This made him to study so hard.
Educational Journey
He started his education at Katamba Bologi Primary School from 1974–1980 and proceeded to Teacher’s Training College Minna 1980–1985. He also obtained a Diploma in Agriculture from Niger State College of Agriculture 1987 and then proceeded to Niger State College of Agriculture 1996–1998 where he also obtained a Higher National Diploma in Agricultural Extension & Management.
Secular Work and Divine Calling
He got an employment under the Local Government as a Teacher where he rose to a higher level. However, something was still missing and that was the Call. The Rt. Rev Jeremiah Ndana Kolo who is a lover of God and a Choirmaster of the Church resigned from the Local Government job as he was prepared to follow the call of God upon his life. No more a Teacher in the classroom but now a Teacher in the Vineyard of God.
Ministerial Calling and Ordination
Starting from a humble beginning, the Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Ndana Kolo embarked on a journey toward greatness in the liturgical domain. He enrolled into the Bida Bible Training Center 1993 for Catechist Training. His dedication and hard work earned him the honor of being ordained a Deacon at the age of 26 in the year 1993 at the Cathedral Church of St. John, Bida. He continued to push himself forward and was later ordained as a Priest in 1995 at the same Cathedral Church of St. John, Bida.
Theological and Advanced Ministerial Education
For him to uphold the Anglican Communion call and ethics which rest upon a firm intellectual foundation, the Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Ndana Kolo proceeded to Archbishop Vinning Seminary 1999–2003 where he obtained a Diploma in Theology. However, he wasn’t satisfied which motivated him to study more at the International Center of Evangelism Jos 2005–2006 for Professional Diploma in Evangelism and Church Growth, ECWA Seminary, Jos 2007–2009 for Post Graduate Diploma Theology, Crowther Graduate Seminary, Abeokuta 2012–2013 for Masters in Mission Studies, Bethany International University Singapore 2018 for Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. He is a fellow of GAFCON Bishop’s Training Institute Course 4 & 8 and the Anglican Leadership Institute Course 6 USA.
Ministerial Roles and Experience
The Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Ndana Kolo has an extensive background in ministerial work as a missioner having held numerous positions of responsibility in various churches over the years. However, few will be mentioned:
He served as Curate at St. John’s Anglican Church Kuchi-Woro 1993–1996
Vicar and District Chairman Gaba District Church Council 1992–2003
Vicar and District Chairman Essan – Kuchita and Essan District Church Council from 2003–2005
Canon in Residence at the Cathedral Church of St. John – 2003
Sub-Dean, Cathedral Church of St. John, Bida
Archdeacon at the Cathedral Church of St. John – 2007
Episcopal Elevation
He was elected Bishop for the Missionary Diocese of Kutigi on the 28th March, 2008 at the age of 41 years and consecrated Bishop on 14th May, 2008. He was enthroned as the Pioneer Bishop on the 24th May, 2008.
Achievements and Legacy
To the glory of God his achievements include the establishment of churches and other infrastructure which are too numerous to mention. The testimony is still spoken of till date. In the places he has served, over time, he developed interfaith and ecumenical relations with other religious communities where he fostered dialogue, promoting understanding and seeking common ground.
Personal Life and Family
He is married to Mrs. Mary N. Kolo (Nee Yisa) of which Holy Solemnization took place on the 22nd April, 1995 at the age of 28 and their marriage is blessed with 5 children and many children around them.
Hobbies and Interests
For hobbies, Bishop Kolo plays Volleyball, and enjoys reading inspirational and church history books, and spending quality time with family. He is also a good farmer who is not ready to entertain laziness.
