The new General Secretary for the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has been presented to the Standing Committee meeting. He is the Ven. Dr. Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi, former Rector of Archbishop Vining theological college, Akure.
In an interview soon after his presentation, Dr. Fagbemi said his focus is to pursue with pragmatic zeal the vision of the church as spelt out by the primate to be adequately implemented for the church to move forward. He called on Nigerians to stand firm on what is right and be on the Lord’s side, adding that the Church should not compromise and be counted for what is good.
The new General Secretary observed that what is in the micro is in the macro, noting that income and giving has been pretty low in the Church because salaries have not been paid to workers from whom we source to feed the Church. He added that people of God should give in faith because according to him, God is faithful and will always provide for his people and meet all their needs.
He called on all governments at federal, state and local to provide good governance to reduce people’s agitations and listen to their grievances to avoid these threats and trouble from time to time.
