PRIMATE OKOH INAUGURATE ANGLICAN CABLE NETWORK TV NEW BOARD.

The Primate of All Nigeria Anglican Communion Most Revd. Nicholas D. Okoh has charged the members of the newly constituted board of the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (ACNN TV) to lead the communion to a quality station which will make ACNN TV a household name in the country adding that the Lord is in need of it. He said this at the formal inauguration of a nine-man board for the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (ACNN) held at the Chapel of the Advent in the Primate’s office. According to him, the Church believes in quality this is more so that in October this year the Anglican Church will be 500 years old. He said there is no reason why the Anglican Church cannot do things based on “old age integrity.”

Primate Okoh went down memory lane and recalled that many brilliant ideas were brought but the cost was prohibitive and at a stage there was contemplation of taking a loan, until a good Samaritan in the name of Mrs. Folorunso Alakija came to the rescue. According to the Primate, things were not smooth sailing because some people (names withheld) betrayed the trust reposed in them. He said what they did was condemnable adding that after much struggling the Church arrived at the stage ACNN is today.

He is of the opinion that the newly constituted board members are capable of leading the Church to a quality station because of the caliber of people that have been collated to run the Church today and tomorrow. He was confident that the board members will perform. While inaugurating the board the Primate prayed for team work devoid of rancor for resounding success.

The new board members comprises of Chief Folu Olamiti – Chairman, Rt. Rev. Blessing Eyindah, Rt. Rev. Chidi Oparajaku, and Barrister Timothy Adeyeye. Others are Dr. Peter Nmadu, Dr. G.T.N Ajakpo, Mrs. Bisi Amagada, Ven. Shadare and Mrs. Ngozi Adighibe. Responding, the Chairman of the new board Chief Folu Olamiti on behalf of board members extended his courtesies and appreciation to his grace the Primate for the kind gesture of appointing them.

He gave kudos to ACNN for weathering the storms since it hit the airwaves in 2013 broadcasting twenty-four hours, seven days of the week. He observed that the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria is currently facing some challenges ranging from inadequate manpower, funding, lack of a befitting corporate headquarters and a general apathy among Church members to buy into the sustainability of the Television project.

The Chairman of the new board also raised the need to attend to the issue of the broadcasting platform from MY-TV which ACNN is currently transmitting from which according to him has limited viewership. He sought the possibility of a name change and migrating to a more popular platform as one of the strategies to garner more viewership at affordable cost.

He assured the Primate that the new breed of board members shall give the assignment given them their best for the timely realization of the goal of establishing the Anglican Cable Network without betraying the trust and confidence reposed in them.
