Be Obedient, Reject The Nigeria Factor – Bishop Kolo

Bishop KoloThe Bishop of Bida Anglican Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Jonah G. Kolo has appealed to Christians and all present at this year’s Standing Committee meeting held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Deanery Yenagoa, Bayelsa state not to leave the gathering with the Nigerian attitude of refusing to take instructions seriously but rather be obedient to the Apostle Paul’s instruction in the Bible to put on the whole armour of God. He made this appeal during the Holy Eucharist service that was held during the meeting and further called on all and sundry to put on the whole armour of God that has been freely given to all believers.

He tagged his sermon, ‘Trust and Obey’ and took his text from Ephesians 6 verses 10 to 11. In his message, the Cleric pointed out that the writer of the book of Ephesians, Apostle Paul was a man whom every Christian is aware of; because he was appointed by God and was given a message which he delivered even in chains. He was emphatic that this instruction of Paul ought to be taken seriously because according to him Paul spoke, taught and wrote from personal experiences. Bishop Kolo stated that Paul who was also a Prophet had received this revelation from God and made sure that he shared it with the believers, adding that if that is all that one needs to do then Christians should listen to him and take him seriously.

The Preacher who stated at the beginning of his sermon that he would be doing only an introduction on the theme, ‘Put on the whole armour of God’ expressed his confidence in those who had been given the assignment of expatiating on the theme through the Bible study sessions adding that there was much to learn from them. He therefore concluded that the Bible did not say they should acquire the armour of God but rather that they should put it on, which to him means that it is not difficult to get because it has been freely given by God. Rt. Rev. Jonah Kolo prayed that God would open their eyes, instil in them the desire to trust the messages of those who anchor the Bible expositions and to obey God who is calling all Christians to put on all the armour which He has provided for the Church.
