The popular Biblical passage, “When the wicked reigns, the people groan and suffer, but when the righteous reigns, the people rejoice,” resonated with the people and the impact felt in the Church of God.

The Ven. Dr. Paul Dajur, the General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion influenced this response while preaching at the end of a three day fasting and prayer sessions declared for Nigeria by the Primate of All Nigeria Anglican Communion, the Most Rev. Nicholas D. Okoh at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja, where the grand finale of the intercessory thanksgiving service took place.

The Cleric who took his texts from Proverbs 25:5 and Proverbs 29:2 said it is only righteousness that can exalt the nation, because justice according to him, stabilizes a country while greed can tear it apart.

He reiterated that sin is a reproach and the problem of impunity is a hydra-headed one that is not only dividing Nigeria, but it has also torn every segment of the economy into shreds. The General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria Anglican communion said it is time for the congregation to perform their civic responsibilities, register, collect their Personal Voters Card (PVC) and vote their choice, without selling their birth right in vote buying and selling; adding that it is only through this transparent transaction that can make them enjoy the dividends of democracy.

He admonished the members of Churches gathered never to allow the labours of the heroes past to be in vain. The Ven. Dr. Dajur singled out indefatigable figures like the late Sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo, late Chief Anthony Enahoro, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sadauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the golden voice, Tafawa Balewa and the rest, as men of impeccable character who fought for the independence of this great country, Nigeria.

He called on all Christians to infiltrate the entire political terrains of Nigeria and grab the political power, because they have been given the authority to do so. While emphasizing that PVC is good, he added that prayer is better because prayer is the key that can unlock closed doors, fill the valleys and move mountains.

The Primate of all Nigeria Anglican Communion, the Most Rev. Nicholas D. Okoh through the leading of the Holy Spirit declared that all Dioceses under the umbrella of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) should observe a three days fasting and prayers for the state of the Nigerian nation and for God to bring normalcy.

The Diocese of Abuja Anglican Communion was not left out, all Churches in the nooks and crannies of the FCT began the sensitization and mobilization of their congregation, which culminated on the last day to the population explosion in the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp Abuja. God bless Nigeria!
