“The world sees failure as an orphan and everyone is identifying with success not minding whether it was achieved by hook or by crook.
The wife of the supervising Priest of Gudu Archdeaconry Diocese of Abuja Anglican Communion, Mrs. Ijeoma Ukaejiofor said this in her welcome address, at the opening of this year’s Gudu Archdeaconry Women Conference held at the Basilica of Grace Anglican Church, Apo. She said the theme of the Second Gudu Archdeaconry women conference, ‘Walking in obedience’ was chosen because of the world we live in today adding that the citizenry is contending with worldly standards of dog eat dog because of stiff competition of winner takes it all, where there is no consideration for the weak or a loser.
She said it is not surprising that many people have taken to vices such as armed robbery, prostitution, exam malpractices, corruption, terrorism, kidnapping, smuggling, and trafficking in persons and drugs. Mrs. Ukaejiofor said Nigerians have neglected to pay attention to simple and clear injunctions of the Lord who has called them to a life of wholesomeness and abundance through obedience to his word. According to her, success on this earth is worthless if people do not gain eternal life. She added what good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world yet forfeits his soul hence people should not be careless about their heavenly race, but work faithfully with Christ.
Highpoints of this year’s Women Conference Gudu Archdeaconry include Seminar, lectures, Health check and Launching of Conference souvenirs for the Diocesan Women’s water project and the building of a new Church at the Paradise Estate, FHA Apo Abuja.
It will be recalled that the Gudu Archdeaconry took the first position and won a trophy during the 2013 Mothers’ Sports Fiesta the same position they took at the 2012 edition.
